Football Today aims to be unlike any other football podcast
Since I was a kid I have believed in the power of audio. I spent hours every day listening to the radio and dream of one day being on it. It's cliche, yet true. That's because audio has a way of building an intimate relationship and connection that is more difficult in the written word. I believe the football media hasn't utilized the power that audio has to tell its most important stories. That is about to change.
What you will hear
Taking inspiration from popular daily podcasts like The Daily, the show will focus on one subject and investigate it from all angles. It will feature at least one guest who is an expert on the topic- a journalist, author, academic or club personnel- and they will provide a deep analysis of it. Woven into the interview will be sound effects, news clips and musical scoring to produce a short- 20 minute- audio documentary.
Compelling, dynamic and entertaining it would feel completely different from your average football interview or ‘talking heads’ show.
Complex and controversial ideas will be broken down and presented to the audience in a compelling way. We will explore how topics relate to one another, making connections that at first might not have been apparent to the average fan. News stories or trends that seemingly have a limited focus will be explored to discover what larger implications they have. Stories will be told with depth and nuance which is often lost in 800 word copy or 10 minute radio segments that are produced the day of.
We will start by doing three episodes per week but we hope to do daily episodes in the future. However, we will never do so at the expense of quality. Quality is paramount to the show and will never be sacrificed. At the end of the day, this show will be about you, the fans. Support us and we'll put out more content for you. Have an idea? Get in touch with us and we'll see if we can make it happen.
This show will cover teams and players from Japan to Norway to Peru. Incredible and important football stories don't just exist Europe. I believe football has the ability to show you new worlds and vibrant cultures you may have never before been able to engage with. I personally have lived in the United States, South Korea, Spain and the United Kingdom in the last decade.
Together, lets discover the best football stories from around the world.
